Sept. 23, 2005 Hurricane Rita threatens the gulf coast. Classes are cancelled and students evacuate TLU.

Sept. 4, 2006 Steve Irwin, also known as "The Crocodile Hunter," dies from being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb.

Jan. 17, 2007 Seguin freezes over; first day of Fall classes are cancelled due to icy weather.

Feb. 19, 2007 Head baseball coach, Bill Miller, grabs 500th win

Feb. 24, 2007 TLU Board of Regents selects first female president in 116 years: Ann Svennungsen.

April 16, 2007 The Virginia Tech massacre shocks college campuses worldwide.

April 21, 2007 Spring Fling is held for the first time at Jackson Park instead of the library lawn, creating conflict between students and administration.

June 30, 2007 President Jon Moline retires.

Aug. 15, 2007 Lucky's Kennel gets a face lift.

Feb. 1, 2008 Ann Svennungsen is inaugurated as the University's 14th president.

Feb. 17, 2008 Kosovo becomes an independent country.

July 2008 Stuermer townhouses are demolished.

Sept. 12, 2008 Hurricane Ike plummets Texas coast, destroying Galveston. TLU cancels classes.

Nov. 4, 2008 America chooses Barack Obama as next U.S. President.

Feb. 27, 2009 AT&T Science Facility building dedication.

April 1, 2009 Mary Lou Perkins, Hein cashier beloved by students, retires.

April 17, 2009 TLU's first ever Student Academic Symposium: "Senior's Leaving a Legacy."

April 26, 2009 Swine Flu begins to cause hysteria worldwide. Many schools nationwide, including Seguin area schools, close down. TLU remains open.
